Obituary of Thomas J. Wyman

Guilford- Thomas J. Wyman, 86, husband of Rachel M. (Leighton) Wyman, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, August 26, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor. He was born January 25, 1930, in Parkman, the son of James L. and Yvonne M. (Pinette) Wyman. Tom attended Guilford schools. A Korean War Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army, and retired from Guilford of Maine after many years working in the weave room. He was happiest when family gathered and especially loved time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed cards with the guys, golfing, fishing, bowling and telling stories, especially of his travels. Tom was a member of the Conner-Trafton American Legion Post 119, and attended the Grace Bible Church in Sangerville. In addition to his loving wife of 45 years, Rachel, Tom is survived by two daughters, Cindy Turner and her husband, Brian, and April Buchanan and her husband, Peter; a son, Bruce Jones and his wife, Cathy; two brothers, Maurice and Robert Wyman; six grandchildren, Sara-Mae, Daniel, Charity, David, Chad, and Brandon; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, John; a sister, Anna; a son, Thaxter Jones, Jr.; and a grandson, Christopher Turner. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, September 24, 2016, at the Grace Bible Church in Sangerville, with Pastor David Ray, Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Willimantic. Memorial contributions may be made to the Conner-Trafton American Legion Post 119, P.O. Box 517, Guilford, ME 04443.
