Obituary of Gertrude R. Demers
Milo – Gertrude R. (Ogden) Demers, 92, passed away September 22, 2021, at the home of her daughter, with family by her side. She was born January 8, 1929, in Milo, to John Price and Alice (Lovejoy) Ogden. She was married to her loving husband, Conrad, on June 12, 1949.They were married for 65 years until his death in 2015, and they raised five children.
Gertrude was an active and longtime member of the Milo Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed sharing with others God’s promise of a better world to come. She loved to feed the birds and squirrels and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was known for her delicious molasses cookies and homemade donuts, and as the local Avon lady for over 20 years.
Gertrude is survived by two sons, Gerry and wife, Patti, and Jeffery and wife, Valerie; daughter, Alice Mills and husband, Paul, with whom she resided for the last 5 years; 19 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Gladys Wright, and Benjamin and Larry Ogden; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Conrad, Gertrude was predeceased by her parents; her son, Mark; her daughter, Constance Gootee; and siblings, Norma Wright, and Philip, John, Robert, Arthur, and Linwood Ogden.
