Greenville – Carol J. Harris, 80, wife of the late Harold “Gus” Harris, passed away November 20, 2021, at her home after a brief illness. She was born June 23, 1941, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the daughter of Henry and Virginia (Markewicz) Jouve. Carol grew up in Revere, MA. After high school, she was a working girl in the city of Boston when she met Gus while he was studying pharmacy there. In 1963, they were married and moved to Gus’ hometown of Greenville. She dedicated herself to raising a family, homemaking and standing with Gus as he worked as a pharmacist, owning and operating Harris Drug Store. In 1983, she decided to open a gift store called the Corner Shop, which continues today as a popular shopping spot for locals and tourists. She took great pleasure in baking for family and friends and she loved keeping lots of beautiful flowers in her yard. Family gatherings brought her countless hours of joy throughout the years. She was a devout Catholic and also served her community as a volunteer EMT and on a variety of boards and committees. Carol is survived by her son, Michael; daughter, Lisa; brother, James Jouve and his wife, Beverly; four sisters, Joanne Welch, Christine Repoff, Patricia Zawadski and her husband, Ski, and Marie DeCristoforo and her husband, Richard; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family would like to thank the staff at C.A. Dean Hospital and the Lafayette Cancer Center for the incredible care and compassion Carol received during her illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville. A reception to continue celebrating Carol’s life will immediately follow the service. Burial will be in the family lot in Greenville Cemetery in the spring of 2022.
