Alton - Kurt E. DeWitt, 40, passed away on November 25, 2021, from COVID. He was born September 11, 1981 in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Richard B. and Deanna M. (Kirby) DeWitt. Kurt is survived by his daughter, Merris C. DeWitt; son, Maddox J. DeWitt; father, Richard B. DeWitt; sister, Kristina (DeWitt) Feero and husband, Keith; niece, Addyson (Addy “Dewsy”) Feero; nephew, Kyle Feero; special aunt, Dianne (Kirby) Bowden; uncle, David Hamlin; grandparents, Eben and Joanne (Ladd) DeWitt; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother in 2017, Deanna (Kirby) DeWitt; grandfather, John (Les) Kirby and grandmother, Ardelle (Small) Kirby. He was most proud of his children, Merris C. DeWitt (9) and Maddox J. DeWitt (4). He was truly the best dad to his kids and had a very special bond with them. His kids enjoyed all the outdoor activities Kurt enjoyed; he made sure to always do the things he loved with them. Often one of the kids would roll up with Kurt on a snowmobile or ATV sound asleep while he drove them around. Kurt was loved beyond measure and this world will not be the same without him. He was the proud owner of DeWitt Powersports in Milo, where he was born and raised. He loved anything with a motor, especially snowmobiling. He loved going to his camp in Jackman, gifted to him by Dickie Dorion. It became a favorite place he frequented with his father, son, daughter, nephew and great friend, John P. Kurt was loved by many and was always good for a laugh and the best friend anyone could ask for. As a child, he had a penchant for breaking windows. There were at least four of them and his weapon of choice changed each time. It varied from his hand, to an apple, a stick and a toy hammer and only managed to get stitches a couple of times. Growing up on Schoodic Lake in the summers and at Fishing Derby, there were always great times with friends and family, including with a very special couple, Clarence and Betty Rollins. Kurt has many close friends, all of whom will miss him greatly. Derek Hersey was Kurt’s best friend and they shared many great times and laughs over the years. The memories are numerous and will be treasured by all. I’m sure he’s already giving his mom hell up there and making her laugh. There will be no service at this time. The family plans to do a Celebration of Life in the spring or summer to honor Kurt. A trust has been established for his children, Merris and Maddox DeWitt and donations may be made to Maine Savings Federal Credit Union, and directly deposited at the credit union or mailed to Kristina Feero, 33 Feero Lane, Alton, ME 04468.
