Obituary of Earl E. Clayton, Jr.
Dover-Foxcroft – Earl E. Clayton, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully January 29, 2022, at Pleasant Meadow Estates, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born June 18, 1938, in Bristol, the son of Earl E. Sr. and Elizabeth (Dunbar) Clayton. Earl proudly served with the U.S. Army in the 3rd Armored Division in Germany. Before moving to Dover-Foxcroft in 1986 with his family, Earl worked for General Motors making ball bearings. He retired from Moosehead Manufacturing. In his younger years, he was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. Earl was a very talented artist and enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed his firearms and socializing with many friends at his apartment complex in Dover-Foxcroft.
Earl is survived by his daughter, Melinda Decker and her husband, Wayne; daughter, Debbie Bailey; son, Alan Hapeman and his wife, Shirley; daughter, Tami Clayton-Jankoski; daughter, Jill Clayton; son, Jesse Clayton; sister, Bonnie Adler; brother, Windell Copeland; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol (Durost) Clayton, and sister, Betty Claire Copeland.
A graveside service will be held in the family lot in the Rural Grove Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft, in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
