Obituary of William D. Hertzog II
Brownville – William D. Hertzog, II, 72, died October 18, 2016, at his home. He was born September 26, 1944, in Mertztown, PA, the son of William D. and Ruth E. (Zeigler) Hertzog. He was a graduate of Brandywine Heights High School in Topton, PA. He served with the U.S. Navy as an Interiors Communications Second Class.
Bill was a surveyor and had surveyed the Appalachian Trail which took him from Pennsylvania to Maine. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. His cabin in Maine was his life. Bill was a true patriot and extremely proud of his flag, military, and country.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth E. Hertzog (95) of Topton, PA; a sister, Sandra (Hertzog) Miller of Alburtis, PA; a brother, Joseph Hertzog of Wyomissing, PA; and three nephews. He will be missed by Patrick, his faithful Irish Setter.
