Guilford- Elizabeth M. Van Dyke, 98, passed away peacefully with loving family by her side, April 8, 2023, at her home just 6 weeks prior to her 99th birthday. She was born June 24, 1924, in Newark, NJ, the daughter of Philip and Josephine (Connelly) Begley. In 1947, Elizabeth married Frank Van Dyke. Together they had a ceramic business in New Jersey prior to moving to Abbot in 1984. They liked to travel to California, Jamaica, and Florida. Elizabeth was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club in Dover-Foxcroft, and belonged to the Valley Grange #144 in Guilford. She was an active communicant of St. Augustine Episcopal Church. Elizabeth is survived by her two daughters, Lois Prescott, and Virginia Hinze and her husband, Eric; four grandchildren, Corine Sims and her husband, Austin, Jon and his partner, Roxane Hart, Daniel and his wife, Julie, and David and his wife, Lisa; ten great-grandchildren, Dexter, Jaymi, Jerrica, Christopher, Joshua, Daniel, David Jr. , Miranda, Melyssa, and Andrew; seventeen great-great-grandchildren, Sydney, Callahan, Kaitlyn, Piper, Daniel Jonathan, Camden, Reece, Sophia, Aubrey, Scarlet, Olivia, Adeline, Amelia, Lane, Holden, Iverson, and a baby due in November. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; son-in-law, Jonathan Sr; granddaughter, Debi; and great-grandson, Jonathan III. She will be greatly missed by the family and will always hold a special place in their hearts. Family and friends may visit 1PM until time of funeral service at 2PM Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Burial will be in the family lot in the Riverside Cemetery, Willimantic, later in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
