To Butch and family, I am so sorry to hear of Michelle's passing and so sorry that I missed her funeral. Just learned about it this week. What a beautiful obituary noting all her accomplishments and I really enjoyed reading about all your travels. She certainly did have a wonderful and fulfilled life. We had so much fun as teenagers going to "pretend" rec-center. My mom and dad loved Peanut's bubbly personality, smiling face, and dancing eyes. Sometimes I wish we could go back to those carefree days.
Please give my condolences to Toni. I haven't seen her since my son passed but I would like to get together with her the next time she is in Newport.
Again, so sorry for everyone's loss.

Please accept our deepest sympathy from Cousin Francis Curley, who’s mom Mary, was a sister to Peanut’s mom. Peanut would always stop by in the home town of Lee, Massachusetts where the Castronova clan of 5 girls and 5 boys all grew up on Center St and stop and visit Aunt Gladys. Gladys was the last of the five sisters who depart cthis earth a few years ago at 95 years old. Two other sisters went before her my mother Mary at 95 and Josephine at 95. Angelina and Mabel were in their 80’s.

Butch and family,
I am shocked to hear of Michele's passing. What a wonderful and caring person she was. I had worked with her over the years at Riverbend during elections. She made sure that whom ever wanted to vote got the chance. She also helped organize the seniors for an afternoon team party the girl scouts planned. Not to mention benefit suppers that had left overs would go to Riverbend commkn arra for the seniors to have. And Michele would call residents to come get some. She always looked out for her people.
May you have lots of stories, pictures and memories during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Shelley and Robin, I was so shocked to read of your mother's passing. She was a very special lady. I haven't seen much of her lately but when my parents were at Riverbend, I saw her quite a bit. Keep the happy memories close and they will help you through this difficult time.

We knew Michele for a short time, but enjoyed her company at visits to Butch and Michele's homes in Florida and in Abbot, at our home and at several of the MeDOT Retiree ("Clan") luncheon meetings, She was a delight to be around. Our condolences to Butch and the family.

We got to know Butch & Peanut best after leaving Maine. They visited us with their RV in Arizona several years ago and planned to stay a day or two. As we recall, they stayed a week or more.
Then we visited them in Florida a couple of years ago and parked our RV in their yard this time.
Peanut always cooked us a fabulous dinner every time we visited Maine, followed by long chats.
We cherish those times of getting to know the Kirks and sharing stories. Peanut was a very special person who lived life fully and shared easily. She will be missed.

I started working with Butch in 2005 on a road project. I met his lovely wife, and we had some great times together. They would have me over for dinners and cook outs. I needed a place to stay up there, and she found me a nice cheap apartment. She asked if I needed any furniture and I believe she came up with a mattress, TV, a lamp and a stand. She thanked me for working with Butch and said since you started with him, he doesn't leave for work so early because he knows the project is in good hands. That made me feel great. Even though I have not seen Butch or her in years I will miss her and place her on my prayer list.

So sorry to hear this, Butch and Family. I remember Michelle as a bubbly person, quick to smile and ready to chat! And she told me she didn't want to be called "Peanut" any more! That was a long time ago~~~ I will be saying prayers for the Family.

Well its hard to think of just peanut.... she was part of a duo in life, always joined in person or in love by her forever team mate. All my memories and stories involve both Butch and Peanut.
Peanut was the person you wanted on your side, she was fiercly loyal and devoted to all her special people. The hours of cooking and planning and worry for her people were endless, as was her love. I, like many, are a friend and relative. My memories go back as a child. (I remember that garage toliet!! )
Peanuts infectious smile and laugh were genuine. We will all miss you Peanut. No more pain for your body, just bright light and love going forward. Hugs and Love to you Butch and your entire family.

Oh, the countless hours days, meals, trips, and adventures. We had with Peanut and Butch over the years. Peanut was a one of a kind you never had to wonder where you stood with Peanut, but she was the most loving and caring person you could ever asked to meet. Michelle you will be very much missed by our suppers and barbecue group that we’ve had, to enjoy you and Butch over the years, now we know the pearly gates will have beautiful flowers planted in front of them waiting for the rest of us to come.❤️ rest in peace Peanut we love you and will miss you.
