Guilford – George E. Ames, Jr., 89, husband of the late June (Crosby) Ames, passed away November 20, 2016, at his home. He was born January 28, 1927, in Guilford, the son of George E. Sr. and Ruth (Rowe) Ames. George had been employed as a truck driver by Guilford Industries for many years. He is survived by a son, Alan “Bucky” Ames of Parkman; two daughters, Lori Robinson and Cathy Ames, both of Guilford; a brother, Cecil Ames of Guilford; three sisters, Mattie Merchant of Guilford, Ida Page of Abbot, and Rosalyn Stevens of Dover-Foxcroft; 5 grandchildren, Dishawn, Amanda, Timothy, Michael, and Jessica, who made her home with him for many years; and seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Olivia, Travis, Ethan, Isaac, Mykela, and Tyler. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11am Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the family lot in Pingree Center Cemetery, Parkman, with Rev. Albert York officiating.
