Obituary of Gaston G. Houde

Greenville, ME and Bolton, MA – “Who loves the rain, and loves his home, and looks on life with quiet eyes, Him I will follow through the storm; and at his hearth fire, keep me warm." Gaston’s smile and twinkling eyes were those of an insightful man whose greatest loves in life were his family and his home. Friends affectionately knew him as Gus or Carl. Gaston G. Houde, 90, husband of Joan (Craven) Houde passed away November 24, 2016, at Moosehead Lake, Greenville, Maine, where the couple resided the past 15 years. He was born in Montreal, May 18, 1926, the son of Joseph Georges Houde and Audelie Breton, Gaston was also raised by the Desmarais Family (Raoul and Amanda Houde) of Franklin, MA. He joined the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in Granby, Quebec and Sharon, MA. During the Korean War he proudly served his country in the Air Force; and for many years he was a hairstylist in Concord, MA. Gaston was predeceased by his first wife, Silvia Paladino, two brothers, and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Joanie, of 33 years; and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 1213 Dexter Road, Dover-Foxcroft, on December 2, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. A private spring internment will be held in Peekskill, New York at the convenience of the family.
