Obituary of Florence A. Crosby
Florence Arlene [Albert] Crosby, 82, of Bradford, Maine, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, December 3, 2023, at a hospital in Bangor, Maine. She went to be with her Lord surrounded by her two daughters, Vickie and Leona, and other family members.
Her funeral service will be on Friday, December 8, at the Bradford Baptist Church, 461 Main Road, Bradford, Maine. The visitation is from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. A special “Celebration of Life” service will commence at 1:30 PM. Rev. Donald Booker and Leonard Albert will be presiding over the service. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine.
A life-long Mainer, Flo was born in Montville September 4, 1940. She lived in several Maine locations and attended Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft and graduated from Waterville High School in 1958. Flo is survived by a brother, Leonard Albert of Cleveland, Tennessee, two beloved daughters Vickie Allen and Leona Pullyard from Milo, Maine. She has four beautiful grandchildren, Nathan, Shawn, Wayne, and Sarah and four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan, father, Edward Albert and mother, Bessie Albert.
It’s incredibly difficult to sum up the impact and influence Flo had on those around her. She was noted as a great homemaker with a vibrant personality. She possessed a welcoming spirit and was loved and admired by many. Flo was constantly helping others and her home was continuously full of family and friends. She was the family “big sister” and was an ever-present, enduring influence for her siblings. Her daughters, Vickie and Leona, have fond memories of delicious, home-cooked “from scratch” meals. Leona said, “We always had what we needed and most of what we wanted!” Flo’s life can easily be identified in two segments. First, she loved the outdoors. Vickie and Leona have many memories of countless camping trips, hunting and fishing trips and walks in the great open air. She was a skilled hunter and knew all the secrets of catching trout in streams all over Maine. On one occasion her mom, Bessie, was visiting her farm in Albion. They were sitting at the breakfast table enjoying a leisurely time together. Suddenly, Bessie heard a big boom that jumped her right out of her chair! Flo noticed a deer eating all her apples on the front-lawn tree and got her rifle, opened the window and sent that deer into eternity! It took awhile for Bessie to recover from that experience! Flo loved flowers and planted them everywhere she lived. She loved birds and attracted many by feeding them daily. She planted gardens. She canned, she cooked, and she tended to everyone in the family and beyond. The second segment of her life began on Sunday, December 4, 1983, when, during an evangelical church service Flo and her husband accepted Christ as their savior. From that time on camping, hunting and fishing took second place in her life. She became totally filled with a new joy she never had because of Christ’s presence within her. She loved reading and studying her bible and going to church more than anything else in life. She shared her “new life in Christ” testimony with great happiness. To her very end she was faithful. Usually, on Sunday morning she was in her church worshipping God. This past Sunday, she entered into her heavenly home and got to worship Christ in person!
The family wishes to extend an open invitation to all friends and those interested to the “Celebration of Life” service mentioned above.
