Barnard Township - Ryan Alan McCormick was born on June 18 of 1982 at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. He passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on December 9 of 2023. Ryan was only 41 years old. Ryan is survived by his devoted mother, Susan (Dean) Ireland and lifelong step-father, Wayne Ireland Jr.; his loving sister, Darcy (McCormick) Burgess and her husband, Brian Burgess, and their children, (Ryan’s cherished nieces) Heather, Shannon, and Brianne. He also shared special bonds with his “Nana” Ila (Wadman) Dean, “Aunty” Cheryl (Dean) Horne, and Uncle “Ronnie” Ronald Dean. He leaves special cousins, Jason, Jill and Jeffery Horne, Justin and Jason McCormick, Bruce “BJ” White, Richie and Joshua Ireland; best friends, Joey and James Wright; plus many more extended family members and friends. Ryan was predeceased by his father, Ronald McCormick, paternal grandparents, Herschel and Vivian (Bowley) McCormick, maternal grandfather, “Eddie” Charles Edward Dean, Aunt Betty (Larson) Dean and special friend, Larry Laney. Ryan grew up in Barnard TWP and attended Foxcroft Academy. After excelling in the forestry program and graduating in the year 2000, he pursued work in the Maine woods for much of his life. But forestry wasn’t all he was proficient at. Ryan was also a talented mechanic, taking pride in his abilities to modify vehicles and turn heads with his newest loud creation. His latest joyful accomplishment was in his operating a CAT 545 grapple skidder. Ryan loved the outdoors and nature. He found thrill in ventures like back road mudding, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, mud runs, camping at Jo Mary/KI, and had many fond memories from their family camp on Schoodic Lake. Ryan will be remembered as a thoughtful, caring, kind-hearted person with a compassionate, spunky soul and an infectious laugh. As a Dukes of Hazzard fan…he was, “A good ol’ boy, never meaning no harm.” Ryan had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and had found salvation in the Lord. He was in Recovery; proud, humbled, accomplished, and thankful and eagerly ready for a new start. Sadly, he lost his battle with addiction. It is known that, “Death is nothing else but going home to God, the bond of love will be unbroken for all eternity.” Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” A private graveside service with be announced in the spring of 2024 followed by a celebration of life.
