Barnard Township - Ila Marie (Wadman) Dean, 91, went home with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on January 16th, 2024. Ila was born in Brownville Junction December 21st, 1932, to William and Mary(MacDonald) Wadman of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Ila graduated from Brownville Junction High School in 1951. She participated in Cheerleading, she would often quote cheers to family members to remind them of her alma mater. She met the love of her life, Charles “Eddie” Dean and they married in 1953. They built their home in Barnard Township. There they would raise their children. Ila and Eddie had built a family camp at Schoodic Lake where they made fond memories with family and friends. Ila was raised Catholic with her eight siblings and had a solid foundation in her love, faith, and fellowship of our Lord Jesus Christ, throughout her life. Ila’s most prized possession and center of her life was her family. Her unconditional love never faltered. Ila had a gift to share; her ability to be generous in giving, caring, and being compassionate. She often times would go without, making sacrifices, for her family. Ila enjoyed playing cards with friends Helga, Elsie, Diane, Ramona, Gloria and more in Sebec Village, riding with friends for dinner at different restaurants with Bob and Betsey Stone, and Norman and Diane Lamson. She enjoyed watching performing arts and listening to country music. Ila was a member of the Sebec Village Christian Community Church where she helped out with many events over the years. The 4th of July breakfast she always looked forward to. She was involved with Bible study a few times per week there, was active in the sewing circle which made several blankets over the years for families in need. She attended the ladies Red Hat Society group, and Widow Persons group over the years. After losing her husband, Eddie in 1987, she enjoyed traveling. She traveled to Florida for several winters to see friends, Barry and Betty Esler and family. She traveled to Germany with special friend, Helga Nason. She also went to Europe with her sister, Blanche, there they would visit many places and countries including Holland where their brother, Joseph, is buried. He lost his life in WWII in the Battle of the Bulge. Ila was always a little disheartened that his body wasn’t reunited with their family and buried in the family lot, but she knew he was with the Lord and he was in a respected plot of land with so many other military men. Ila took a great deal of pride learning and sharing her knowledge of her family's history and heritage. She was especially proud of being Scottish and often would share her frugal ways and tease others around her of their foolish Irish ways. Ila is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Ann (Dean) Horne of Milo, Susan Marie (Dean) Ireland and husband, Wayne, of Barnard Twp; special son, Ronnie Dean of Barnard; grandchildren, Jason Horne and wife, Theresa, of Barnard, Jill (Horne) Carey of Milo, Jeffery Horne of Milo, Darcy (McCormick) Burgess and husband, Brian, of Dover-Foxcroft; many great grandchildren which she loved dearly, Evan, Jaylynn, and Grayson Horne of Barnard, Vegas and Kennedy Carey of Milo, Kendall Horne of Milo, Heather(Burgess)Warman of Guilford, Shannon and Brianne Burgess of Dover- Foxcroft. Ila was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters, Joseph, Hilda, Eileen, Marion, Claude, Blanche, Honorene and Wayne. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Eddie, on April 6th 1987. She was predeceased by Ronnie's wife, Betty (Larson) Dean of Barnard in July 2023. Ila was also predeceased by her special grandson, Ryan Alan McCormick of Barnard just a few short weeks ago on Dec. 9th, 2023. They shared a loving bond that has now been reunited in Heaven. Ila has outlived so many family and friends too numerous to list all in which she cherished dearly. It is known that, “ Death is nothing else but going home to God, the bond of love will be unbroken for all eternity.” Psalm 34:18 “ The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” A private graveside service will be announced in the Spring. This will also coincide with her grandson, Ryan’s service. A celebration of life will follow after the committal.
