Sangerville- Cooper Mathieu Jay, 11, passed away April 16, 2024, as the result of an ATV accident in Sangerville. He was born June 6, 2012, in Tucson, Arizona, the son of Jennifer (Frye) Jay and Joshua A. Jay. Everyone knew Cooper was frequently seen in an orange hat and with his best friend, Papa Butch. He loved his family, and was creative, kind, determined, and the best brother and son. Cooper loved fishing, science, being in the outdoor club at school and working around outside. He grew up playing baseball and wrestling and loved art. He will be forever missed by his family as he was a special boy. Cooper is survived by his mother, Jennifer; his father, Joshua; three siblings, Ashton, Elijah, and Harlow; maternal grandparents, Jason and Pamela Frye; paternal grandparents, Ken and Cindi Jay; aunt, Jessica Womack; uncle, Alec Frye; and a very special Papa Butch Lemieux and his wife, Carolyn, and the entire Lemieux family. A memorial service will be held 3PM Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with Rev. Michele St. Cyr officiating. Private burial will be in the Knowlton’s Mills Cemetery, Sangerville. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to PCES Outing Club, 25 Campus Drive Guilford, ME, 04443.
