Obituary of Suzanne Maheux
Greenville - Suzanne Maheux, 89, died May 26, 2024, at Northern Light C.A. Dean Hospital, Greenville. She was born February 23, 1935, in Ste.-Aurelie, Canada, a daughter of George P. and Laura (Vachon) Gilbert. Suzanne was a hard worker, raising a family of seven children while taking care of the farm when her husband was away for work. After moving to Maine in 1977, she continued to work hard raising her family and helping her husband in any way she could. Suzanne was never afraid of hard work. One of her children's memories was watching her split firewood with an axe. She always made homemade meals and desserts for her family. Suzanne enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and tending her garden. She appreciated volunteering her time painting all the gold trim in the old catholic church and selling raffle tickets to raise money for the church. She will be remembered as a loving parent who always was there for her family. One of her greatest joys was Christmas time because she loved putting out thousands of lights and decorations. She loved that it brought joy to people passing by. She was the best mother that her children could ask for. Whatever anyone needed, she was always a helping hand.
She is survived by her two sons, Alain Maheux of St-Prosper, Canada, and Serge Maheux of Quebec, Canada; five daughters, Carole and Nelson Veilleux of St-Benjamin, Canada, Josette and Robert Deblois of St-George, Canada, Chantal Maheux of Greenville, Dannie Maheux of Greenville, and Linda and John Melvidas of Danville, NH; brother-in-law, Raymond Laliberte; sister-in-law, Marie Mance Gilbert; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of63 years, Ovila Maheux; parents; seven brothers; six sisters; daughter, Nicole; grandson, Stephane; and son-in-law, Kendall Chandler. She was the last surviving member of the Gilbert family.
