Obituary of Suzanne (French) Osgood

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Suzanne (French) Osgood on July 3, 2024, at 77 years old. Born on January 28, 1947, in Lawrence, MA, Sue was the cherished wife of the late Art Osgood and a loving mother to Jennifer (Saggese) Mfuranzima and Jacquelyn (Saggese) Hardy. She was also an auntie, niece, grandmother, cousin, and friend to many, touching their lives with her warmth and compassion. Sue grew up in Boxford, MA, the beloved daughter of Estelle Mildred (Kruschwitz) French and Archer Norman French. She married Art Osgood on November 3, 1985, and together they shared nearly a decade of love and companionship until his passing on February 3, 1995. As a mother, Sue was a pillar of unwavering support and boundless love to her daughters, Jen (Jenny) and Jacqui. She devoted herself to nurturing them with wisdom and care, leaving a lasting impression on their hearts and lives. Sue adored her five grandchildren and delighted in sharing her love for horses and adventures with them. She leaves behind Jacqui’s children, Mike Hardy (24), Riley Hardy (18), Lily Hardy (13), and Jen’s children, Nate Chatfield (24) and Sara Chatfield (19). Sue cherished her close cousin and best friend, Jayne Lynn Spofford of Englewood, Florida, and enjoyed summer trips along the Maine coast with her dearest girlfriends. Lucy the dog, whom Sue lovingly cared for during summer seasons, was also a cherished companion. Known affectionately as “mom, mum, mumma, mummy,” Sue embraced every term of endearment from her family. To her grandchildren, she became Nanny, a role she embraced wholeheartedly. Sue had a deep love for Maine, especially the coast and Kettle Cove where she spent cherished moments with Nate. She also cherished visits to Sebec Lake and looked forward to the blooming of Lilacs in June and Gladiolas in July, her favorite flowers. Jen and Jacqui, alongside family and friends, mourn the loss of Sue, a remarkable woman remembered for her kindness, grace, and resilience. While she may no longer be with us, Sue’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Please join Sue’s family and friends on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Foxcroft Golf Club in Dover-Foxcroft, ME, to celebrate her life and share cherished memories, along with some of Sue’s favorite foods. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals in Windham, in honor of Sue Osgood’s memory and her love for horses. Forever in our hearts, may she rest in peace.
