Obituary of Edwin L. Howard
Dover-Foxcroft - Edwin l. Howard, 88, passed away peacefully at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft, on December 14, 2016. He was born February 4, 1928, in North Haledon, NJ, the son of Edward and Theressa (Bodmer) Howard. He was a graduate of Hawthorne High School, Class of 1945. Upon completion of high school Edwin entered into military service, serving his country honorably in both the Navy and the Army.
Edwin was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, and high school sweetheart, Marie S. (Hollins) Howard, as well as his parents, three brothers and a sister. He is survived by their four children, Keith Howard, Kevin Howard, Lynn Eastman, and Kenneth Howard; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edwin was employed for many years with Public Service Electric and Gas Company in Passaic, NJ, where he also served as both union steward and union officer. Edwin and his family relocated from Oak Ridge, NJ, to Maine where he established himself in the poultry business and later operated a greenhouse with his wife Marie, on their Silvers Mills farm in Sangerville. Edwin will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, always up to a challenge, equipped with a keen wit and sense of humor, strong will, and loving heart. He will be sorely missed.
