Rockwood – Richard E. Carlson, 71, passed away July 7, 2024, at his home. He was born October 11, 1952, in Worcester, MA, the son of Edith Linnea (Olson) and Roy Kenneth Hugo Carlson. Once graduating from high school, Richard went to Essex Aggie to pursue his education in arboriculture. He worked many years with his father and brother at Ajax Tree Company before starting Carlson Tree with his two boys, Derek and Justin. He moved to the place he loved most, Moosehead Lake, where he remained the rest of his days. Richard was passionate about hunting and fishing. He enjoyed music, playing guitar and singing at different venues. Richard is survived by his three children, Derek Carlson and fiancée, Nicole Girardin, Justin Carlson, and Linnea Mello and her husband, Bob; grandchildren, Robert and Ryler Mello, and Charlie Carlson; sister, Diane Cooper and her husband, Ron; family friend, Lindsay Carlson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Robert Carlson. He will be missed dearly by his dog, Bella, whom he loved spending time with. Services in both Massachusetts and Maine will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
