Obituary of Marilyn Ann Rohdin
Sangerville---Marilyn Ann Rohdin, a beloved figure in her community, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on November 24, 1940, Marilyn was a small but mighty woman with a steadfast work ethic, embodying the resilience of the “little engine that could.”
She took pride in raising her six children with her late husband, David. She dedicated much of her career to her community, working in the Sangerville town office, co-owning a tax assessing company, and later serving as a Methodist pastor in Smyrna, Hodgen, Greenville, Ripley, and Guilford.
Known for her many talents and strong spirit, Marilyn enjoyed reading, gardening, playing the piano, kayaking, sewing, and stacking wood into her later years. She found joy in family gatherings, Grandparent camp, singing hymns, and reading the Bible. Marilyn’s legacy is one of service and compassion. She volunteered with Womancare and Hospice and continually opened her home and heart to those in need. A lifelong learner, Marilyn pursued knowledge and wisdom with a humble heart.
Preceded in death by her parents, Josephine Kelliher and Walter Schofield; husband David; and siblings James and Elaine, Marilyn is survived by her siblings, Russell Schofield and Alice Blood; her children, Denise, Peter, Clint, Dan, Carolyn, and Brenda; her grandchildren, Luke, Colleen, Lana, Nina, Sabrina, Stephen, Jose, and Cassidy; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Mya, Vera, Nolan, Lainey, and Ezra.
She will be deeply missed by her family, her special friends (Ev and Ashley), her dog (Teddy), and many friends and community members whose lives she touched. A heartfelt thank you to Beacon Hospice for their care and for making these last few months more comfortable.
