Obituary of Elmer "Jack" Stanchfield
Calais and Milo – Elmer “Jack” E. Stanchfield Jr., 82, passed away January 13, 2025, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor. He was born October 31, 1942, in Milo, the son of Elmer E. Sr. and Frances E. (Harris) Stanchfield.
Jack’s infectious smile, laugh, and sense of humor were loved by all who came into contact with him. He loved to tease those around him while keeping a straight face. 27 years ago, Jack suffered a major stroke where he overcame the odds and persevered proving doctors wrong. He enjoyed what life offered him to the fullest while overcoming the struggles of his limitations. He was an inspiration to many, right until the very end. Jack’s most prized possession was his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. He could not have loved them any more.
Jack was a proud member and past President of the Calais Rotary, a past member of the Selective Service Board in Bangor, and a member of the Skulkers of Seboies.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jannifer (Davis) Stanchfield; son, Philip Stanchfield and his wife, Trendy; daughter, Angela Stanchfield; two grandchildren, Porter and Jack Stanchfield; brother, Glenn Stanchfield and his wife, Rena; nieces and nephews, Ivy Stanchfield, Kerri Glickman, Todd Stanchfield, Curt Kole, Tom Kole, Kelli Kole, Joi Stevens, Scott Reynolds, Suzie Pauchey, and Joshua Reynolds; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Maxine Kole and Patricia Stanchfield.
A graveside funeral with military honors will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery, Milo, in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
