Obituary of Joan Madeleine Bolstridge
Sebec- Joan Madeleine Bolstridge, 87, passed away peacefully April 23, 2017, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born in Gillespie Settlement, New Brunswick on December 19, 1929, the daughter of Almon Bolstridge and Agnes (Roach) Bolstridge. In spite of being left profoundly deaf from measles at the age of four, she excelled academically and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Grand Falls, NB. She was involved in charitable works helping poor children in Brazil, and did missionary work there as well fundraising for the mission.
She was a devoted daughter to her parents and a great comfort and companion to her mother in her later years. She had many interests: she painted and drew; read voraciously; collected stamps, coins, and dolls; and traced her family genealogy before the advent of the Internet. She also enjoyed playing video games.
She is predeceased by her parents; her brother, Vaughan Bolstridge; and sisters, Donna Cole and Mary Ellen Lunn. She is survived by brothers, Raymond Bolstridge and his wife Helen of Milo; Gary Bolstridge of Mims, Florida; Dale Bolstridge and his wife, Anna of Merritt Island, Florida and Sebec; and Larry Bolstridge and his wife, Carol of New Durham, N.H.; sisters, Orpha Grass and her husband, Art of Madbury, N.H, and Barbara Tarvainen and her husband, Bill of Durham, N.H.; and many nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great nieces.
