Jane enjoyed traveling and did so extensively throughout the United States, making homes in Maine, Florida, California, and Nevada. She was a member of OES and held many offices throughout the years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Jane had many jobs over the years in sales and as a business owner, but her favorite was the many years with the Census Bureau.  Jane always kept her family supplied with knitted and crocheted clothing; she loved to eat, and would go fishing whenever she was asked.

Jane was predeceased by her parents; an infant son; a sister, Gail Burke; a brother, James Costigan, Jr; a niece, Cindy Burke; her former husband, Newton York; and the love of her life, Dale Huff, with whom she lived on Whetstone Pond.

She is survived by two daughters, Catherine Merrill Kessler and her husband, Michael, of Litchfield, and Kerry Jones King and her husband, Randy, of Dover-Foxcroft; three grandchildren, Michelle Merrill Langston and her husband, John, Mindy Merrill Maguire and  her significant other, Joe Sprecher, and Derrick Merrill and his wife, Laurie; and seven great-grandchildren, Annabell Langston; Emerson, Drew, and Baxter Merrill Maguire; Joshua and Samantha Ossenfort; and Tyler Merrill.  She leaves a brother, Galen Costigan and his wife, Kathy; several nieces and nephews, Tony Costigan, Angela Cook, Laurie White, Sandra Preston, and Chris Burke Smith; a brother-in-law, Carl Burke; special family members, George and Brenda Merrill; and a special cousin, Jo Nesbit. She will be fondly remembered by Dale’s children, Scotty Huff and Robin Anderson.
