Obituary of Raymond S. Mace, Jr.
Monson- Raymond S. Mace, Jr., 69, passed away July 2, 2017, at the Togus Springs Hospice Unit in Augusta. Raymond, was born April 30, 1948, in Greenville, the son of Raymond S., Sr. and Doris (Robertson) Mace.
Raymond grew up on the family farm in Greenville, loved the outdoors and fishing in Sawyer pond. He graduated from Greenville High School, Class of 1966. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army from 1967- 1973, and after basic training he was stationed in Germany as an engineer equipment mechanic. In January of 1969, he reenlisted for postal clerk school, where he was transferred to Oakland, California. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Expert M -14 and M-16 rifle, and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his discharge, he returned to Monson, where he worked at Moosehead Mfg. Co. for nearly 35 years. His passion was fishing, playing pool, and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his brother, Ronald Mace of Shirley. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Adelia Warman; and his brother, Nolan Mace.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Togus Springs Hospice Unit for all the wonderful care and love they gave Raymond.
Graveside services will be held at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Rd. Augusta, at a later date.
