Obituary of Catherine E Ames
Dover-Foxcroft – Catherine E. Ames, 92, known to all as Kay, died July 15, 2017, at her residence at Pleasant Meadows Estates, after a short illness. She was born January 28, 1925, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of David and Marie (Bouley) Nadeau. She grew up in Greenville Junction, and graduated from Greenville High School and Becker Junior College. In April 1947, she married Harold M. Ames, with whom she spent the next 57 years, until his death in 2005.
Kay was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dover-Foxcroft. She was active in the church, as well as the Piscataquis County Cooperative Extension Service, for many years. Kay was very artistic, a facet of her personality that came out in her gardening, floral arranging, painting, photography and rug making, as well as many other craft activities throughout her life.
Kay is survived by a son, Brian Ames, and his wife, Deborah, of Abbot; four daughters, Helen Boemmels and her husband, Dennis, of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Johnson and her husband, Eric, of Lisbon, Portugal, Elizabeth Adler and her husband, Ken, of Brunswick, and Jan Santerre and her husband, Shaun, of Augusta; two sisters, her twin, Irene Gain, of Chula Vista, California, and Jeannette Callahan of Pennsylvania; one brother, David Nadeau and his wife, Dianne, of Oregon; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to call Tuesday evening, July 18, 2017, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dover-Foxcroft, with Father Emile Dube presiding.
