Obituary of Kennie L. Thompson, Jr.

Sangerville -  Kennie L. Thompson, Jr., 76, Retired Master Sergeant USAF, passed away July 21, 2017, at a Skowhegan nursing home.  He was born November 27, 1940, the son of Kennie L. Sr. and Pauline (Westmoreland) Thompson.  He served with the U.S. Air Force for twenty years and was a100% disabled Vietnam veteran.  Kennie worked for the Piscataquis County Sheriff Department for 15 years, as a patrolman, guard, and as a 911 dispatcher. He was a Shriner, a 32 Degree Mason, and played the bagpipes in the Highlander Band for many years. He enjoyed sailing and having lunch every day at the Nor’Easter.

 

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Judith Cole Dow Thompson; two sisters, Paula and her husband, Tony, and Louise; three children, Desi Clark of North Carolina, Donna Keenan of Newport, and Kennie and his wife, Debbie of Dighton, MA; two step-children, Carl Dow and his family from Corinth, and Lisa Field and her husband, Rob, of St. Albans; and numerous grandchildren. He will be remembered by special friends, Dick Trott, Skip House and Rickie Crow. He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters.

 

A Masonic graveside service with military honors will be conducted 11am, Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Sangerville Village Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
