Obituary of James M. Kingsbury

Dover-Foxcroft – James Mathew Kingsbury, 55, husband of Lisa A. (Clark) Kingsbury, passed away August 11, 2017, at a Biddeford hospital. He was born November 30, 1961, in Zaragoza, Spain, the son of Roger Kingsbury and Florence (Thorpe) Lizotte.

Jim's children and family were most precious to him and he valued them above all.  Though battling ALS, Jim never lost his zeal for life or his wonderful sense of humor. He was still able to spread joy and laughter wherever he was.  He had been featured in a documentary “Jim Said No”, created by a dear friend Chas Bruns. Jim was one of the original founders of The Walk to Defeat ALS in Bangor which began in 2008.  Jim traveled to Washington D.C. many times to meet with the Maine Congressional delegation to educate and advocate on health issues that face victims of ALS and their families. Jim enjoyed football, baseball, and cooking.  Amid all of this, he was an avid bird watcher and especially enjoyed watching cardinals.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lisa of Dover-Foxcroft; his mother, Florence Lizotte of Brewer; his children, Jessica Serio and husband, Rocco, of Cleveland, OH, Mathew Kingsbury and wife, Cristina, of Waterbury, CT, Emily Martling and husband, Michael, of Durham, North Carolina, Benjamin Kingsbury and wife, Stephanie, of Kewaskum, Wisconsin, and Jim’s youngest son and little buddy, Jack Kingsbury of Dover-Foxcroft.  Jim had two stepsons he was very close to, Alex Wheelden of Miami, Florida, and Timothy Wheelden and wife, Trish, of Hermon. He also leaves four brothers, Eric and wife, Tonya, of Pittsfield, Edward and wife, Stephanie, of Brewer, Earl and wife, Lorraine, of Augusta, and Paul and wife, Katie, of Bangor; one sister, Wendy Massey of Bangor; and many nieces and nephews.  Jim had eleven grandchildren that held a special place in his heart, RJ and Gabriella Serio, Joey, Julian, and Veda Kingsbury, Haylee, Savanah, and Noah Martling, Adaline Kingsbury, and Ryder and Mason Wheelden.

The family wishes to thank the staff on A1 at South Ridge for all their years of compassionate care for Jim.
