Obituary of Hilda M. Sylvia

Parkman- Hilda M. Sylvia, 89, passed away at her home September 17, 2017, with her family near.  She was born July 30, 1928, in Westport, Massachusetts, the daughter of Benjamin and Anna (Perry) Silva. Hilda retired as a stitcher for a clothing manufacturer in Massachusetts but continued to create many unique and special outfits for her family until arthritis slowed that passion.  She truly enjoyed her home and her loving family and did all she could to make sure they felt loved and were comfortable.

 Hilda is survived by her son, James “Jimmy” Sylvia; two daughters, Julie Ellis and her partner, James Costedio, and Rena Knowlton and her husband, Ray; three grandchildren, Michael Ponte and partner, Stephanie, Holly Knowlton and partner, Chris, and Katie Dumont and her husband, Chris; and eight great-grandchildren, Harley, Parker, Jake, Julia, Avery, Caroline, Finn, and Skye.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Benjamin Silva Jr. and Ernest Silva, and her nephew, Russell Silva.

 The family wishes to thank CHCS Hospice and particularly Hilda’s nurses, Marcia and Tammy, for their compassionate care.

 Per Hilda’s wishes, services will be private.  She will be laid to rest with her parents in the family lot at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Westport, Massachusetts. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
