Obituary of Paul Allen Knaut, III
Dover-Foxcroft - Paul Allen Knaut, III, 68, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by close family on the evening of October 15, 2017, after a tough battle with lung disease and throat cancer. Paul, better known as Allen, was the son of Paul Knaut, Jr. and Betty Southworth. Paul was a high school graduate of Foxcroft Academy in 1968. After graduation he was an employee at Guilford Industries for more than 30 years. This was followed by a brief employment at Pride Manufacturing in Guilford. In 2006, he completed the CNA program and then worked for five years at Hibbard Nursing Home, retiring at the age of 62. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid football and basketball enthusiast.
Paul is survived by a loving family, wife of thirty years, Loretta Knaut; sister, Cynthia Knaut; daughters, Nicole Janey and husband, Ben, Heather Knaut, Ashely Pinkerton and husband, Shawn; three grandchildren, Kenzie, Colten and Connor Pinkerton. He was predeceased by both parents, younger brother, Frank Knaut, and both in-laws, Carleton and Henrietta Burrill.
At Paul's request, there will be no formal service. There will be an open house in celebration of his life held at his home in Dover-Foxcroft this Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 1-4pm. A private interment will be held at Rural Grove Cemetery at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Cancer Care of Maine, 33 Whiting Hill Road, Brewer, 04412.
