Obituary of Marilyn B. King
Greenville and Orono- Marilyn B. King, 83, wife of the late Weldon C. King, Sr., passed away October 17, 2017, surrounded by family at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 1, 1934, in Greenville, the daughter of Milton E. and Edna T. (McEachern) Dunbar.
Marilyn married Weldon at 19 years old and together owned and operated a logging business, Weldon C. King Inc. until their retirement. From the 1970’s to the early 2000’s they enjoyed their winters in Venice, Florida. She was a lover of life who enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, music, and being a member of the New Life Church in Greenville. For the past three years Marilyn has resided at Dirigo Pines, Orono; while living there she loved attending the Collins Center of the Arts and was an avid fan of the University of Maine Women’s Basketball team.
Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Torri Stone of Auburn, and Maria Avery and her husband, Bill, of Rockwood; four grandchildren, Liza Douglass of Rockwood, Jason Douglass of Auburn, Weldon T. King of Vermont, and Kathryn King of Massachusetts; her brother, Terrance Dunbar and his wife, Betty, of Millinocket, and their children, Terri-Sharon Brewster of Hampden, Holly Humphrey of Veazie, and Byron Dunbar of Hermon; and many other nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Trina Mercier of Lewiston. In addition to her loving husband, she was predeceased by her son, Weldon C. “Tunney” King, Jr.; son-in-law, Tim Stone; and a special friend, David Nichols.
A memorial service will be held 11am Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Greenville Chapel of Lary Funeral Home, 281 Pritham Ave., Greenville. A reception will follow.
