I will forever remember Dave Caivano as the teacher that made math easy to understand. He was very patient and was always available for extra help. His dry tone and often hidden sense of humor is what made him a unique gift. For any student that did not have Mr. Caivano as a teacher, you missed out on something special. Rest well Mr. Caivano. So sorry to hear about Dave's death. Looking back at my time at PVHS, he was a pillar of the school and I cannot think about the Penquis without thinking of Dave Caivano. Every time that I need to prepare something I create an outline and fondly think of Dave sitting in his chair dictating outlines to the class.

Mr. Caivano was always there for his students when they wanted help. He went the extra mile for them in their time of need and although only had him in seventh grade math, witnessed how much he did for students all the time I was in high school at Penquis. My condolences go to Gina and all relatives and friends of Mr. Caivano. Very thankful for all the students that appreciated what he did for Penquis. He will be greatly missed.

To all of David's family - please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. While I never worked at Penquis with David I still knew him as an SAD 41 colleague. I respected him greatly because he was available to help students whenever they needed it. Since his passing and reading all the comments on Facebook I came to know how much he was loved by his students. This is a terrible loss for you, but also our school district.
