Ronald Priest

Obituary of Ronald Guy Priest

Guilford - Ronald Guy Priest, 83, passed away December 31, 2017, at a Bangor hospital.  He was born October 28, 1934, in Guilford, the son of Guy L. and Nellie T. (Doucet) Priest.

Ronald was a woodsman through and through.  He began working with a bucksaw and an ax at age 11, and remained actively working until the age of 80.  Ronald spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, trapping, and guiding for bear, deer, and coons. He was an old poacher from way back; his family and friends never went hungry. Of course, this often led to “interesting” relationships with game wardens.  Ronald always got his deer and the old rifle has the notches in the stock to prove it.

He worked hard his entire life and was well known and respected. As a young man he enjoyed playing basketball. Ronald loved to tell stories, especially about his hunting experiences. He was an honest man, self-effacing about everything except working in the woods and hunting. Ronald was always there when you needed help, tough on the outside, but had a soft side as well. If he liked you, you were his friend for life.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Katherine A. (Bruneau) Priest; three sons, Rogan King, Patrick Adelt and his wife, Winnie Pike, and Wilbur Priest; three daughters, Roxanne Hart and her husband, Stephen, Peggy Lee Priest, and Lori Welch and her husband, Barry; four sisters, Madeline Schultz, Connie Clement, Lorraine Maurice, and Eunice Mansfield; two brothers, Leslie Priest and his wife, Betsy, and K. Jon Priest and his wife, Alta; a special aunt, Maxine Doucet Mitchell; 11 grandchildren, Joline Lander and her husband, Shane, Travis Priest, Samantha Saunders, Veronica Saunders, Torey Osnoe Hill and her husband, Douglas, Morgan Tangman and her husband, Ed, Rogan James King, Samantha Hashey, Lindsay Hashey, William Adelt,  Amber Welch-Aube and her wife, Heather, Lindsey Withee and her husband, Joshua, and Tatum Jordan and her husband, Wesley; and many great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald “Boug” Guy Priest, Jr.; two brothers, Roger and Rodney Priest; and his sister, Betty-Ann Grecheski.

A celebration of Ronald’s life will be announced in the coming summer. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
