Madeline London

Obituary of Madeline Elizabeth London

Milo - Madeline Elizabeth London, 82, of Milo, passed away on January 11, 2018, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Madeline was born in New Limerick, to Harold and Vera Burton on February 7, 1935. She graduated Milo High School. Madeline had spent many years as a valued employee to several early Milo businesses and had always been that familiar, smiling face to the community. It was her passion for people that led her to devote over thirty years to selling Avon. She enjoyed her Avon customers; the visits were really a mission field. Madeline would pray with them and tell them about the Lord. She was pleased when she could share the gospel. Madeline also was a breast cancer survivor.

Marrying Nelson was the beginning of being blessed with her family and looking after their four children. Together they looked after the many needs, especially their spiritual needs. Going and taking the family to church was a must in their home. Her life has always shown the love of the Lord living within her. She lived and walked her faith.

Her favorite part of life was having her children and grandchildren with her, especially at their cottage on Schoodic Lake. Some of her favorite pastimes were knitting, crocheting, swimming, boating, hiking - she was game for anything.

Madeline is survived by her son, Timothy London and his wife, Debra, of Milo, Debora Page and her husband, Gary, of Milo, Janet Grant and her husband, Jeffrey, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Laurie Rublee and her husband, Rick, of Milo; 16 grandchildren, Tim, Toni, Kevin, Kristi; Andrea, Michelle; Nelson, Katie, Shyla, Felicity, Paul, Elizabeth; Karen, Kristen; Jonathan, Matthew; also 25 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Raymond Burton and his wife, Georgia; three sisters, Eloise Hathorn and her husband, Robert, Eleanor Perry and her husband, John, and Jeanette Towne and her husband, Pete; her brothers-in-law, Larry and John London; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Nelson; her parents; two grandsons, Austin and Adam; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Bennett; siblings, Irene, Harold, and twin sister Maxine.

Memorial donations may be made to His Light for Haiti, 137 Maple Road, Atkinson, ME  04426.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the loving workers who cared for Mom this past year in her home.
