Obituary of Sylvia L. Turner

 

Dover-Foxcroft – Sylvia L. Turner, 90, wife of the late John W. Turner, passed away March 12, 2018, at her home.  She was born April 8, 1927, in Bangor, the daughter of Herbert E. and Vera (Savage) Shorey. Sylvia was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1947. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was active in the United Baptist Church and the Unity Mission Circle and taught Sunday School for over 40 years at both the Baptist and Congregational Churches in Dover-Foxcroft.

 

She is survived by two sons, Ralph and his wife, Dorothy, of Augusta, and Eric and his wife, Kathy, of Dover-Foxcroft; two daughters, Edith Jeffries of Florida, and Rita and her husband, Tim Bilyeu, of Connecticut. She was blessed to have six grandchildren: Diana Mitchell and her husband, Christopher, of Portland, and Dean Turner and his wife, Rebecca, of Hampden, Stephen Jeffries and his wife, Jennifer, of Florida, and Karen Jeffries of Florida, Amanda Bilyeu of Virginia and Cory Bilyeu of Connecticut; and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by Kathy’s children, Joshua Goulette, Joseph Getchell and Steven Getchell.  She also leaves two sisters, Amber Pinkerton of Connecticut, and Hazel Shorey of Texas.

 

A memorial graveside service will be held in the spring at the family lot in Gray Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
