Doris was a first cousin to my Mom (Ottillee P. Bennett- Kirby). I have faith they are reunited in the home of our Lord.

My condolences to her sisters, Joan, Carmen and Theresa and their families. If this offers some comfort, Doris told me long ago her heart stopped twice and as they tried to revive her in the ER, she had an about-of-body experience - a pleasant peaceful floating experience... and she watched the doctors work on her and place an external pacemaker on her chest. Since that time, she said she has never been afraid to die and was looking forward to "that special day." I know she is happy and peaceful and I feel so blessed to have had her in my life. And yes, the battery they put in that original pacemaker lasted the rest of her life so she never had to have another operation, nor another fainting spell. She was always proud of that miracle too.

My deepest sympathy to each of Doris’ family members. My memories of Doris are of a Sister of Mercy who was beautiful, kind, quiet spoken with a welcoming smile—a woman I would always remember. While visiting her sister, Theresa, and my brother, I had a very rough ride accompanying Doris to a Bangor Hospital. I feared that she might not make the trip, but she recovered and went on to a life of impressive dedicated service. Thank you for sharing the history of her impressive career.
