Obituary of Myrna L. Alden

 

Dover-Foxcroft and Kennebunk - Myrna Lois Alden, 84 years of age, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough with her family by her side.

 

One of eleven children, Myrna was born on November 18, 1933, in Dover-Foxcroft to Mahlon and Wilma (Lunt) Spaulding. She graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1952 and served in the Air Force for two years.  In 1961 Myrna returned to Dover-Foxcroft where she successfully raised her four children as a single mother. She worked at Hathaway Shirt Factory for many years and later at the Thompson Free Library until her retirement in 1996. Myrna married the late Bernard E. Alden in 1973. She enjoyed travelling with her sister, Marilyn, and her nieces. An avid seamstress, her favorite past times also included reading, knitting and spending time outside. 

 

Myrna is survived by five siblings; her four children and their spouses, Timothy and Clarice Dunn of Saco, Jeffrey and Hollie Dunn of Scarborough, Christopher Dunn of Merrimack, NH, and Karen and Brian Fraser of Kennebunk; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Myrna had a special place in her heart for her grand-dog, Casco. Myrna will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
