Guilford - Our Mom, Margaret “Peg” H. Lightbody, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft, after declining health. She was born June 23,1926, in Newburyport, Mass to Dr. William and Gertrude (Philbrick) Horsch. Mom was raised in Woodbury, NJ, graduating from high school there. She then attended and graduated from Colby College in 1948. She met her future husband, Dr. Charles "Harry" Lightbody, there in math class, and they married in 1949. They lived in Baltimore, MD while Dad attended medical school and Mom practiced as a social worker. Next stop was Worcester, MA for Dad to complete an internship and then onto Guilford to settle.
Mom was very active in the community, belonging to several clubs and serving on committees. Mom was a master gardener and this brought her many hours of enjoyment.
Mom became a mother when I was adopted in 1955 and my brother in 1957. After she and dad raised us and dad retired, they enjoyed traveling all over the world, spending winters in their Florida home, and summers in Maine. Whetstone Pond was her favorite summer place.
Mom was predeceased by our Dad; daughter-in- law, Mary; her parents; sister, Helen and brother-in-law, Bill Harrison; and special friend, Chet Grindell.
