In the late 1950s and early 1960s, when my brothers and I were 8 or 10, Ellen would visit us at our home in southern Connecticut on her way to teach in Colorado, after spending the summer in Maine. We enjoyed her visits greatly, as she was always so chipper and fun. We spent many evenings staying up late to finish a game of Monopoly or a jigsaw puzzle, telling stories and laughing well into the night. Rest peacefully Ellen.

We always enjoyed our talks with Ellen and appreciated her and her interest in quilting and gardening and so many things.
