I offer my heartfelt condolences to Gloria's family and friends; I know we are all so deeply saddened by her passing. Personally, I will miss her understanding and her solid advice. Although some people hesitate to offer their point of view when asked about a serious matter, Gloria was never one to shy away from speaking her mind. Whenever I shared my latest family drama or work debacle, she listened carefully, paused, and began with: "Well, Joyce, you might want to..." I may have resisted at first, but eventually I would follow her suggestion and miraculously, positive results followed.
After each of these BIG talks, we would sit and enjoy a cup of tea. She knew that I was particularly fond of mint tea and I had purchased some for her several years ago. During my visit with her in fall of 2018 the last of the mint tea bags was used. "Don't you worry, Joyce," she promised, "I'll make sure I get more before the spring when you're back in Maine." Well, last week I stopped over to visit Joe and asked if I could make myself a cup of tea, and don't you know, there was a brand new box of mint tea sitting right there in the front of the cupboard.
Of course, that tea is only one way Gloria's presence will continue to be felt in my life. She was truly one of the most caring, strong, supportive, and level-headed people I have ever met. There really are no words to express how much she has, and will continue to, influence my life.

To the Gloria Grant family: I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Gloria. I enjoyed her hospitality when I often visited her restaurant. I also enjoyed being her pastor when I was serving Guilford UMC. Guildford, Maine. I had often visited her mother Bertha Turner and her stepfather Frank. In fact, I officiated at Franks funeral while in Guilford. Gloria was a lovely and wonderfully cheerful woman. It made me laugh one time in church when she succinctly told me that she was missing the Three Stooges so she could come and hear me preach. I will miss her greatly as I always have along with missing her mother Bertha and stepfather Frank Turner, I also miss the grandchildren who were in my confirmation class. Great people. You have my love and eternal sympathy. I still have a picture of both Bertha and Frank taken when they were well and lived at home. Blessings and love to you all. Daniel E. Bollen. Former Pastor

Cindy and family,
I will always have such wonderful memories of Gloria. My Grammie used to bring me to the Village Restaurant weekly to have meals and her BLTs quickly became one of my favorite things in life. Gloria always greeted me with a warm smile and a hug even when as a moody teenager I definitely didn’t deserve either. I’m so sorry for your loss but please take comfort in knowing that Gloria was so incredibly loved by so many. Thinking of you all during this incredibly difficult time. ❤️

Susan and Cindy and families, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother. She was a wonderful person and a great cook. I shared many hours with your mother making Turkey pies for American Legion suppers, marching in the Memorial day parades, and with Pam and Cindy growing up together. Gloria will be missed by all.

My thoughts and prayers are with Joe and the family. I am so sorry to hear about Gloria. I will always remember the times Gloria called to let me know Joe had picked green beans and they had them at the restaurant. She even called after they closed, and she delivered. I was so happy I got a chance to see her last summer on my visit from Florida.
