Obituary of Bryan C. Buchanan

Medford – Bryan Chase Buchanan, 84, died June 13, 2019, at home. He was born May 13, 1935, in Milo, the son of Alden F. and Irma A. (Chase) Buchanan. Bryan graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1953, and the University of Maine in 1961 with a B.S. degree in Forestry. He served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army, and retired as a Game Warden Sergeant after 22 years with the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. In 2015 he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Warden Service for his accomplishments in the area of meat identification. Bryan was a past Master of Olive Branch Lodge of Masons in Charleston, a past District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Maine, AF & AM, and was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Bangor.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Wilma, of Medford; daughter, Brenda Buchanan of Fairfield; brother, Gordon Buchanan of S. Glens Falls, NY; sister, Ann Buchanan Huffman and husband, Blaine, of John Day, OR; stepson, Michael Patterson of Portland; stepdaughter, Pamela Roe and husband, Stephen, of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Lt. Colonel Jesse Breau and wife, Laura, of Las Vegas, NV, Dylan Breau and wife, Nathaly, of Tampa FL, Major Cody Breau and wife, Stacey, of Oahu, HI; Sara Breau and partner, Gerry, of West Bath; step-grandchildren, Patterson and Colin Roe of Boston, MA, along with 3 great-grandchildren, and several special nieces and nephews. Bryan was predeceased by his parents and a special sister-in-law, Rachel Buchanan.

Visiting hours will be held 6:00 – 8:00 pm, with a Masonic service said at 7:30 pm, Monday, June 17, 2019, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where a funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, June 18, 2019.  After the service burial with full military honors will take place at the Schoodic Cemetery, Medford.  Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
