Veazie and Zephyrhills FL - David Lewis Ireland, 76, husband of Phyllis (Chase) Ireland, passed away May 23, 2016, at his home in Veazie. He was born March 1, 1940, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Stanley J. and Marjorie J. (Buzzell) Ireland. David graduated from Foxcroft Academy and Husson University. He was in the Air National Guard. He worked at the University of Maine System Office for thirty-five years, retiring in 1997. In retirement he spent his winters in Zephyrhills, FL. David enjoyed his grandchildren very much, as well as hunting, fishing, golfing, and going down to the Veazie Salmon Club to play cribbage with the guys. David was a life member of Mosaic Lodge No. 52 in Dover-Foxcroft, the Scottish Rite Bodies and Anah Shriners and a member of Millwee Chapter No. 198 Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis, three sons, Michael of Veazie, Brian and his wife, Rita, of Keene, NH, and Scott and his wife, Hayley, of Veazie; his grandchildren, Benjamin and Isabelle; his step-grandchildren, Jessica and Samantha; a brother, John and his wife, Carolanne; a cousin Darrell Buzzell and his wife, Carole; and many nieces and nephews.
