Obituary of Daniel O. Bavelaar
Milo – Daniel O. Bavelaar, 83, was called home to be with his Lord on November 9, 2019, after a short stay at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born in his parent’s home, in Croton, N.Y. on June 24, 1936, the son of Onne and Clara (Kremers) Bavelaar.
Dan owned a construction business and earned his B.A. in Education from Montclair State University in New Jersey. He was an educator for 32 years, both in New Jersey and Maine, working in Howland and Milo. He was an EMT and an extrication instructor, through the State of Maine. He also served as Chief of Three Rivers Ambulance Service and was a former Selectman of theTtown of Milo. He was an active member and Trustee of the Bradford Baptist Church, with whose members he felt part of a close knit family of loved ones. Dan will be best remembered for his position as shop instructor at Penquis Valley High School where he taught carpentry, automotive, welding, CAD, algebra and general principles on life.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce (Jensen) Bavelaar; four children, Daniel R. Bavelaar and his wife, Claudine (St.Pierre), Katherine Bavelaar Smaha, Belinda Bavelaar Raymond and her husband, Joseph, and Victoria Bavelaar and her significant other, Michael Cilley; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
