My heart is deeply sad at this loss. I met Sidney and John while living in Portland.. they helped me find a light and inner focus I still utilize to this day. Although I may not have known her as well as some, we shared, smiled, learned, and grew with each other for a time before they moved from Portland. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family.. and to John who helped me find my own passions. May you have peace in your heart always knowing the pure beautiful energy that Sidney was.

May your love and memories hold you during this time - I am sending your family many thoughts and prayers, and I offer you my deepest condolences for your loss. The words that were written in her memory are so true "She was full of bravery and will be remembered as an example of courage and determination by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed." I remember when she came to the fellowship and it was such a gift to watch her grow and change. Her anniversaries were SO special - it was a joy to see her successes. Sydney was a bright light in this world, and her memory will live on within those she loved and helped on her journey.

I loved Sydney soooo much. I knew her when she first came to the AA program online. I watched her struggle and succeed, I loved watching her grow. She not only talked the talk but she def walked the walk!! She was an LED light in our group!! She embraced recovery and was always willing to give it away to those who wanted, so freely. She believed strongly about service work and she loved that too! I am sure that she is now the new Chairperson for the "Big Meeting in the Sky" meeting. My heart hurts as I will miss her forever. Rest in Peace Sydney.... :)

Beloved Fellow Traveler,
Our connection, instant and effortless. Our shared moments immersive and vivid (intensely deep, bright and effective). Our gift, being in one another’s presence.
We were given the opportunity to travel alongside one another as equals. We co-created a sacred space for the nourishment and healing of generational trauma and abuse. We mend each other.
It is an honor and privilege to be a loving witness to the recovery of a fellow traveler of your quality and sincere devotion. Our strength, is in unity. Together we drop layers of denial, identify and feel our feelings while learning to Trust.
We experience aliveness when we give one other permission to BE as they are. We Are Loved, We Are Worthy, We Are Consciousness, We Are Alive and Live On in the Lives we Impact and Hearts we Touch.
I AM Grateful for our eternal connection. Thank you for touching my heart and life with care, honesty, trust, fiery inspiration, compassion, kindness, wisdom and love.
It’s been truly amazing to meet & support your gorgeous family.
Peace be with you beautiful soul.
HP, thank you for your blessings.
Big love filled hug to all.

Dear family,
I visually met Sydney through an online recovery program. I was shocked to hear of her passing. I'm so sorry that she and all who knew and loved her, must go through the pain and suffering of having to say good-bye. I hope that somehow, someway, you will find a sense of peace and understanding as to why this beautiful soul had to be taken home so soon.
If I should go tomorrow
It would never be goodbye,
For I have left my heart with you,
So don't you ever cry.
The love that's deep within me,
Shall reach you from the stars,
You'll feel it from the heavens,
And it will heal the scars.

My life has been enriched by Sydney being in it. We met in an online global recovery site in some meetings for Adult Children, and after a year or two discovered that we lived only seven miles away from each other (for half the year) in the heart of Maine. It was a joy to be able to hug my friend in person.
Sydney was rigorously honest and willing to face her fears in her growth. She shared her struggles, what she did to overcome them, how she learned from them, and what she did to practice self care. Not one to just 'talk the talk', Syd did 'walk the walk'; she shared her experience, strength, and hope on a daily basis.
Syd wanted to start a face-to-face ACA meeting in the area (there were none within 100 miles) because she believed many people could benefit from the program, and it would be a way we could be of service. I'm thankful we were able to make that happen last Spring.
Though I will miss her physical (and her daily on-line) presence, Syd will always be with me spiritually. Having Sydney as a fellow traveller taught me much about myself, growth, acceptance, and trust. She has a place in my heart, and she's a part of who I am today.
When I think of Sydney now, I feel a small smile on my face and I am filled with gratitude that she was, and is, a part of my life.

The shock and sadness of Sydney’s passing will not prevent me from feeling the happiness and joy that she brought to life. An intense, passionate, caring young lady, she excelled at bringing people together to support a common cause. Her performance in the ‘91 State Field Hockey championship game was a testament to that. Pulling her teammates together she was determined to never let a shot cross the line and to support Jamie (goal keeper) at all costs. Loyalty is her legacy. Fred, Sue, Jess, and family, please know that I share your sorrow. Let us all remember Syd with a smile because that is what she brought to so many people.
