“I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as what needs to changed in me and my attitudes.” I will forever remember Rick speaking these words. He lives by this mantra and it’s a great one. There are people in this life that leave an indelible imprint on your heart. Rick was one of those people for me. He’s at peace now, I pray Nancy, that you and your family can take comfort in that.

It was a pleasure to help take care of you. You were always, so sweet and said the sweetest things to make us feel appreciated. One morning as I went in to check on you, you told me,in your quiet voice, that I have a kind soul. I went home Feeling, so blessed.
Recently I went in to assist another Aide and you called me closer and I asked if you needed anything and you said a hug. I was happy to Grant your request and you are deeply missed. PRAYERS for your family and all of the people who took care of you. Goodbyes are never easy... For me, this is see ya later. Fly high.

Nancy and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Rick's recent death. I will always remember his smile, kindnesses and wonderful spirit of caring during our teaching days together at Brewer High School. He was an inspiration and role model to all of us who were lucky enough to know him. His devotion to the 12 Step Program was something that he was so proud of and instilled hope for so many. My love and heartfelt prayers to you all. He was an incredible man, loved and respected by many.

Rick will be sorely missed by all who knew him and loved him. He was a humble and enthusiastic "teammate" in Recovery--- I have fond memories with Nancy and Rick at the 65th International Convention of AA in Minneapolis, as well as the summers that the Dover Gang headed off to Sugarloaf for fellowship, fun and some education, too. Love to Nancy, the kids and grandchildren, Ginger F.

Nancy,
I started the same 24 hour program as Rick in 1980.I’m from Bangor and not sure if you remember me, it’s been a long, long time. But, I remember both of you and what a wonderful couple you were. I am so sorry to read of his passing but reading his obit I remember all those early days and remember how special they were.
My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I too have been blessed with 40 wonderful years of a life that I could not imagine without the program. And, people like you helped to make it possible because of those early years supporting one another.

So enjoyed our many conversations and always found Rick a very kind, compassionate soul, looking for the best in people. Doing business when I owned Dave's World with Joan, Jim, W.Evans, and Rick was always a pleasure, and seeing him at Hibbard's was always a pleasure. Our mutual passion for a good ice cream led us to meet on several surprise occasions at Butterfield's. A very dear family man, Rick will be missed.
