Dear Stephanie, Beth and Tania;
So very sorry to hear of Genevieve's passing, but what an incredibly sweet and elegant lady she was. I was always so happy to share your greetings to her and she delighted in sharing her bouquets with her many friends and admirers. Hers was a life blessed.

What a special lady she was and such a beautiful life story. She leaves behind such a blessed legacy in each one of you Susan,
Stephanie, Lois and Beth as well as your spouses, children, their spouses and children. We were so happy to be able to celebrate her 100th birthday with her and all of you. We are praying that you take comfort in Christ's love and know that you are never alone.

From my diary -
What does it mean - to have lived a beautiful life?
My cousin Gen has just passed from this earth. This earth and its people were mostly good to her; it would have been hard not to be. Each of us has our trials; she did also. But I look at how she met difficulty and think it is a good measure of how one lives their life, for the good or not. When I think of her I think of the Sermon on the Mount; I think of a person who embodies the deep beauty of those Jesus describes. I am not placing her on a pedestal; she would surely frown at that. She believes, as I do, that only Christ is on the pedestal we look to.
I am certain she made mistakes, sins, and had weaknesses; such is the human condition, but she led her life following the good. All the words that have become platitudes, many cheapened by their misuse, but those words do well describe her. She is a gently spirit (and how I loved her soft-spoken voice that caressed you) always looking for the good in someone and using it to change a fault and encourage the spirit of the other. She helped you see that you could do better and you wanted to. She did not hurt or disparage you but used love and truth to help you rise.
So I see her life centered in kindness, generosity, truth and love. She would say her life was centered in Jesus and she saw Jesus as pointing her to these characteristics. These are wells that lie within all of us and they can be brought to the surface to live a beautiful life.

SWEET GENEVIEVE MADE THE BEST FRUITCAKE!!! SAVE YOUR COINS--ITS ABOUT $80 TO MAKE ONE WITH TODAYS PRICES!!!
THE RECIPE WAS GLEANED FROM GEN STURTEVANT—WHO GOT IT FROM THE COOK WHOSE NAME WAS EASTER IN 1948-
*****IF YOU FEEL YOU MUST SKIMP ON NUTS, ECT—PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THIS RECIPE—THIS IS THE BEST FRUITCAKE EVER—-THE REASON THAT LOTS OF PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE FRUITCAKE IS BECAUSE OF SKIMPY POVERTY MENTALITY COOKS-REPENT!
3 CUPS FLOUR
1 CUP BUTTER
2 CUPS BROWN SUGAR
6 EGGS
1 tsp SALT
1 tsp BAKING POWDER
1/2L LB EACH. CANDIED PINEAPPLE, CHERRIES, CITRON
1/4 POUND EACH CANDIED ORANGE AND LEMON
(JUST USES THE 2LBS CITRON STUFF-WHICH YOU BUY AFTER CHRISTMAS ON THE 75% SALE AND PUTS IN THE FREEZER UNTIL FRUITCAKE SEASON)
1 LB EACH OF BLANCHED ALMONDS, WALNUTS AND PECANS
1/2 CUP MOLASSES
1 CUP ORANGE, GRAPE OR CRANBERRY JUICE (UNKUL PETAH USES APRICOT BRANDY-“EXTRACT”)-
1 teas EACH OF CINNAMON, NUTMEG, CLOVES, ALLSPICE (A FULL TEASPOON)
DIRECTIONS:
SOAK FRUIT NUTS IN JUICE (Or "EXTRACT")
CREAM BUTTER AND SUGAR—ADD EGS -ONE AT A TIMES—SIFT FLOUR MIXTURE 3TIMES (THAT IS SIFT FLOUR THREE TIMES)) (THE RECIPE SAYS. 3 TIMES-so do it!!!). ADD ALTERNATIVELY WITH JUICE STUFF AND MOLASSES—- (I FINISH MIXING BY HAND IN A GIANT BOWL!!! MIXTURE WILL BE VERY THICK-
NOW—-BAKE IN PANS THAT HAVE BEEN GENEROUSLY GREASED —- LINED WITH PARCHMENT PAPER AND GENEROUSLY GREASED AGAIN——- IF ONE GIANT FRUITCAKE. BAKE ONE HOUR AT 3OO—TURN OVEN TO 325 AND BAKE 1 1/2 TO 2 HOURS MORE—- (I EMBALM THE TOP WITH MORE “APRICOT EXTRACT”). Sweet Genevieve used cranberry juice as she was Church of the Nazarene at the time)
***THis can make lovely loaf pans—-just adjust second cooking time accordingly—— I LIKE THE GIANT ROUND PAN OF TRADITION0-THATS HOW GEN MADE IT!!!
Good Luck!
and remember."THE MEMORY OF THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL A BLESSING"- Make the fruitcake and savor the memory!

I’ve made a few times over the years. I made it again, 4 yrs ago at the request of my son, Matt. It is the BEST fruitcake, YES it is expensive, NO don’t skimp on any of the ingredients! NOW, for for the “embalming”, as you call it, Peter❣️ I used a skewer to pole holes all over the top and sides. Brushed liberally with Triple Sec and wrapped securely. 3 days later liberally brushed with orange juice. Every 3 days for 10 days Triple Sec. Final day Matt brushed with Appleton Rum! Mom ❤️ It!
