Obituary of Joseph M. Cox
Kenduskeag – Joseph M. Cox, 54, passed away unexpectedly May 10, 2021, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, with family at his side, after complications from Covid-19. Joe was born September 3, 1966, in Tam-Hiep, Vietnam, the son of Jane M. (Huyen) and Clanton B. Cox.
His greatest joy was watching and being involved in his grandchildren’s activities and he was devoted to their lives. Joe’s life revolved around caring selflessly for his family whether as a son, husband, father, uncle, brother-in-law, or friend. A 1984 Foxcroft Academy graduate, Joe later went on to graduate from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering technology. Joe was a tireless professional. He dedicated many years of service to Simplex Grinnell/ Johnson Controls.
Joe was a man of many passions and interests. None were more important than spending time on the snowmobile trails with his family and friends. Joe was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, an avid fisherman, and an entertainer of all crowds with his love of cooking. He was known affectionately as the “cake man” to many. He enjoyed his time on the links with his golfing buddies, Archie, Greg and Bob, and especially their annual get away up north, competing annually for the coveted “Sam Adams Cup”, and Joe’s “famous guarantees “.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Leanne (Curry) Cox; daughters, Tara White and her husband, Daniel, and Katie Day and her husband, Matt; grandchildren, Owen and Ava White, and Thomas Day; step-siblings, Marshall, Mitchell, and Michael Cox, and Marla Cox Landry; mother-in-law, Barbara Curry Cahill; the entire Curry family; and several loving extended family members and their families. He was predeceased by his father; his step-father; and only days prior, his mother.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held 3-6PM Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Foxcroft Golf Club. Contributions may be made in memory of Joe and his mother, Jane, to St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 1638, Bangor, ME 04402-1638. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
