Obituary of Erica Ponkala Bary
Pittsfield- Erica Ponkala Bary, 42 passed away November 11, 2016, at the Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital in Greenville with her family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 3, 1974, in Greenville, the daughter of John & Suzanne (Larson) Ponkala. She was a graduate of Greenville High School, Class of 1992 and a graduate of the SMTC Culinary Arts program, Class of 1994. Erica was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt & friend. Erica had a love for animals and will be missed by her cat Pumpkin and dog Skippy. She was a talented cook, always trying out new recipes. Her greatest passion was spending time with family; as a child there were many family trips to Florida & camping in Rockland. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and visiting major league sports arenas, having been to MLB games at ten ballparks and many NASCAR races.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Bary Jr, of Pittsfield; father John Ponkala of Shirley; sisters Heather Holmes & husband Nathan of Hudson, Laura Witherly & husband Jason of Glenburn; a very special nephew Johnny Witherly of Glenburn; brother-in laws Matt Bary & family of Auburn, NH and David Bary & family of Raymond, NH; many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends, including Heather Villone of Dexter. She was predeceased by her mother, Suzanne Ponkala.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 PM Monday, November 14, 2016, at the Greenville Chapel of Lary Funeral Home, located at the Masonic building on Pritham Avenue, where funeral services will be conducted, 11 AM Tuesday, November 15, 2016, with Pastor Marilyn Rohdin officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at the Lake Road Cemetery in Monson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital, 364 Pritham Ave., Greenville, ME 04441.
