Obituary of Lorraine M. Daggett

Guilford - Lorraine M. Daggett, 86, wife of the late Raymond H. Daggett, passed away peacefully November 22, 2017, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft.  She was born August 16, 1931, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Elmer and Muriel (Brown) Howlett. Lorraine graduated from Easton High School.

She is survived by her two sons, Dale Daggett and his partner, Suzanne Russell, of Hampden, and Larry Daggett and his wife, Pam, of Sangerville; three grandchildren, Tammy Getchell of Cambridge, Stephanie White and her husband, Ryan, of Hampden and Kevin Daggett and his wife, Amy, of Abbot; seven great-grandchildren, Shawn, Shari, Ian, Madison, Kason, Abrey, and Hudson; two great-great grandchildren, Savannah, and Carson; two brothers, Winston Howlett of Easton, and Ronald Howlett of Newark, NY; her “adopted family” of the Engstroms, as well as several nieces and nephews. Lorraine was pre-deceased by a son John, a special friend, Remi LaRochelle, her brothers, Bernard Howlett of Presque Isle, Harold Howlett of Mars Hill, and her sisters, Phyllis Sullivan of Orono, and Jean Kane of Surry.

She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed in the community, where she was known  by many as “Grammie Lorraine”, for her volunteer work with the library, schools, daycares and “Family Feast” holiday celebrations.

The family would like to thank the special staff members at Hibbard’s who provided, and received, many humorous moments with Lorraine during her care.

Burial will be in the family lot in the Village Cemetery, Abbot. Per her request, there will be no visiting hours or public funeral services; however, the family will host a “Celebration of  Life” 1-3p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Abbot Town Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Community Fitness, 31 High St., Suite A, Guilford, ME 04443.
