Robin Kennedy-Kiel

Obituary of Robin J. Kennedy-Kiel

Friendship and Dover-Foxcroft – Robin J. Kennedy-Kiel, 60, wife of Michael L. Kiel, passed away February 8, 2018, at her winter home in Lake Worth, Florida. She was born February 9, 1957, in Long Island, NY, the daughter of Walter R. and Lilly (Karczman) Weinstein. She attended Queens College, and then received her undergraduate and Master’s Degrees in Education at the University of Maine at Orono.

Robin loved teaching and thoroughly enjoyed all of her students. Her career began at Sebasticook Valley Middle School, and included a six-year period as director of the Challenger Learning Center in Bangor, then Waterville Middle School, and she finished back at Sebasticook Middle School.

Robin’s greatest love was for her family. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren, always saying that they were the best thing that ever happened to her. She was especially proud of their love for their families and each other.  She had been very involved as a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America with all three of her boys and many of their friends taking them on countless adventures.

Robin was predeceased by her beautiful infant daughter Claire Hannah and her loving first husband, William “Bill” Kennedy, with whom she spent many wonderful years. Bill gave their family spiritual guidance and tremendous courage.

In addition to her husband, Michael, Robin is survived by her three beloved sons, Bo Kennedy and his wife, Lacie, Ty Kennedy and his wife, Betsy, and Cy “Max” Kennedy and his wife, Jess; four beautiful grandchildren, Noah, Claire, Rory, and Anna Kennedy; and two loving sisters, Paula Weinstein and Laura Stein.  Robin was very grateful for Bill’s wonderful family, especially Pam Kennedy Richardson; remember the rainbow. She will always be remembered with love by her “Play Group” friends and their families.

A celebration of Robin’s remarkable life will be held on Sunday, March 25th between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the - Robin K Fund – at www.mainerobotics.org/robinkfund.html or send Checks to Maine Robotics 30 Main St, #1 Orono, ME 04473 noting the Robin K Fund.
