I've known Irene Bonsey almost as long as I've known her son, Rick Bonsey. Irene was the most loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother I've ever known. She raised Heather like her own. I had the pleasure of spending a couple of weeks with Heather in the Chicago area when she was about 13 years old, she put together a picture book of her visit for her gramma and it was obvious how much she loved her grandma Irene. My thoughts and prayers have been with the family and especially at this time of gathering together to say farewell. Love, Lori

When my family moved into Irene's neighborhood twenty years ago, she and Heather were two of the first people we met. When I stopped by with my babies (or kids/teens as they grew), she always offered a snack, a listening ear, and stories of her own life, and never let us leave empty handed. Her home was always our first stop on Halloween night, even after she moved to Pleasant Meadows. When my grandmother, Alberta Rich, was admitted to Pleasant Meadows, Irene took her under her wing, and helped her feel more at home. Though Irene had experienced more loss than a mother ever should, she continued showing a mother's love and care to those around her... even a young family down the street. Mimi will live on in our memories always.
